When the six women arrive at KAGAYA, Japan's number one ryokan, the Okami (Mother of Kagaya) and all the Nakai line up at the entrance to greet them. This is another example of Kagaya's traditional Omotenashi. The six of them cannot hide their amazement at the museum-like interior overlooking the Sea of Japan, and the world class hospitality of the Nakai. On their first day at Kagaya, the six experience Omotenashi as guests, but from the following day, they are apprentices learning the art of Japanese hospitality. During the ten days of training, the Okami of Kagaya gives them three tasks: to be punctual, to put on their kimono properly, and to smile as they thoughtfully attend to the guests. The group is polarized between Blanca and Emilie, who are excited and actively trying to learn, and Ana and Pei Chen, who are feeling doubtful about whether they can keep up with the others.
